Prognosis:
Due to the lack of teamwork between upper and lowerclassmen among other factors, the team did not make CCS last season. Additionally, since the team didn’t have enough members to field both varsity and JV positions, all athletes played on varsity.
However, this year the team has two new coaches, which has helped the team make leaps and bounds in progress despite losing several key athletes due to graduation. Senior captain Niko Rositano believes their emphasis on conditioning will aid the team in outlasting their opponents and playing more aggressively.
In addition, the coaches are bearing down on players and emphasizing more dedication and a stronger work ethic. As a result, the boys have begun to work more closely together as a unit.
“I hope that we have a comprehensive team and good team bonding so [we’re] hopefully more of a family,” Kruka said. “Hopefully [the new coaches and] seniors can motivate the players to put in 100 percent effort.”
Despite the new changes and obstacles, the team has high ambitions for league and the post-season.
“I think we should have a really, really good season and knockout year,” Rositano said. “My goal is honestly not to lose a single game, and I’m excited to see where it goes from there.”
