In the nine months since his I-told-you-so inauguration in January 2017, Trump has been a man of his word, acting on many of the ideas that he presented during his run for the presidency.
To the surprise of supporters and opponents alike, what seemed to be mere slurs and exaggerations during the campaign turned out to be Trump’s true convictions (shocker!).
A look at one major successes: Remember how he said that we’re getting bested by China? Well, he took a page out of their Little Red Book and named the new wall on the border with Mexico “The Great Wall of Trump.”
Sadly, he didn’t get the Mexican government to pay a dime for it, but he is putting tax revenue to good use in building the wall, employing nearly every unemployed blue-collar worker from all over the U.S. — a smart move indeed and one that is likely to win him a second term.
With the addition of his new wall, Trump is beating back all kinds of undesirable people and trying to send undocumented immigrants back to Mexico to eradicate the arrival of anymore drugs and crime in the country.
After tackling the issue of reducing the number of Mexicans in the U.S., he looked to the Muslims and other minorities, deporting anyone without “absolute perfect documentation” — what he is calling “really huge, extreme vetting.”
Furthermore, he’s trying to revive the birther movement regarding former president Obama. He has appointed a special prosecutor to look into an issue of “grave national concern and importance.”
Nevertheless, despite his tough-on-almost-everyone-who’s-not-white-and-rich policies, his wife Melania has said she is very proud of her man, and has given several speeches at acclaimed universities. Observers have noted the similarity in these texts to other speeches made by past American figures, including “Obama out!,” and “The British are coming!”
Trump’s tax returns still haven’t been released, but people pretty much all agree that he hasn’t paid a single cent in federal taxes in his adult life. Of course, we’ve come to accept almost everything he says. He is close to eliminating Obamacare and the effective tax rate for millionaires is now under 2 percent. In the meantime, he has eliminated the minimum wage.
On the other hand, it is safe to say that Trump is not popular with female supporters. He’ been trying to win them back by saying that he had thought his Miss Universe Organization was a spinoff of “Sesame Street” — this explains the “Miss Piggy” comment about former winner Alicia Machado. In addition, Trump has started to meet with world leaders for the first time. His meeting with Russian president Vladimir Putin was highlighted by a five-minute hug and kiss with the famed strongman, followed by an prolonged autograph session.
So far, it has only been nine months into Trump’s presidency, and he has made some noticeable changes. We can all conclude, despite all the doubts and biased media, that America is on its way to being great again thanks to President Trump.
