This year’s Homecoming rally was quite different than years past because of new games and a full-circle ending, starting and ending with the song “We’re All in This Together,” from the iconic movie “High school Musical.” The rally emphasized school unity rather than class competition.
For freshman Thaila Morgenstern, this was the first time she got to participate in a rally. She was called up to play a partner relay game with freshman Payton Stokes.
“Being able to participate in a rally game was fun because all my classmates were cheering me on in the stands,” said Morgenstern.
This year, the rally commission is trying to involve more people on campus, including the staff. A tug of war pitted teachers versus students in friendly competition where at the end, people from all classes stepped down to help out.
“As it was my last Homecoming, I was hoping to start off the week right and get everyone excited,” the head rally commissioner, senior Nolan Chao said.
Since Homecoming is about unity as a school, instead of separate class cheers, the rally commission ended this rally by having all the classes group together in the middle of the gym.
“I thought it was really cool because in the end you got to be with everyone on the floor and the classes got to be together,” said Morgenstern.
