Quote: “We’ve had a lot of the guys start training already and I’ve definitely saw some of the heptathletes and sprinters also working out,” junior Steven Sum said. “If we have a head start now, we should be able to do really well when season comes around.”
After an unfortunate season last year with a losing streak of 0-6, the track team has been bumped down from the De Anza League to the El Camino League. Despite the hard losses, the team members were hard workers and strived to do their best.
“Last year was a pretty great year, we had a lot of people and most of them were actually pretty dedicated so it was nice to see how people were working hard and not being slackers that just wanted to get out P.E.,” said junior Steven Sum, one of the team’s star runners.
The team looks for improvement, as moving to the easier El Camino League should result in more victories. In addition, team members have been practicing on their own
Sum said the distance team has already started training and he has seem some of the heptathletes and sprinters practicing on their own as well.
“If we have a head start now, we should be able to do really well when season comes around,” Sum said.
