The Saratoga Youth Commission hosted its “Light up the Night” laser tag event on Dec. 20 at the Joan Pisani Community Center with more than 100 people in attendance.
The event was organized to allow students from Redwood Middle School, SHS and college to destress after finals without any expectation of profit. According to sophomore Allison Lin, the Saratoga Youth
Commission simply wanted to put up the event and make just enough money to cover the cost of the event itself.
The event, which lasted from 2 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., consisted of several rounds with 16 people each, using equipment rented from Laser Tag Source. They battled each other with laser guns in a dimly lit maze-style arena with intense music playing in the background.
Attendees purchased tickets for allotted time slots of 15 minute rounds for $5.
Lin said, there was one “mistake” made: more laser tag players showed up than expected which caused the commission to accidently make a surplus of money. She said that the commission plans on using the money for future events.
