Coach: Larry Boehm
Last season's record: 9-3 (within league), 12-6 (including games against upper-division teams)
Last season's recap: Despite having relatively small numbers, the Falcons had a successful season in the El Camino League, losing only to Los Altos High and Carlmont High. Boehm said that it was the “best year” — the first winning season — since the team’s inception in 2009.
Star players: “We don’t have one, which is a good thing,” Boehm said. “That’s the only way we’re going to be successful: if everybody plays as a team. We don’t have one person to turn to; we have many people we can turn to.”
Key additions: Junior Billy Hanford and sophomore Ken Wu
Key matchups/games/meets: Los Gatos (from the De Anza League); Los Altos, Woodside and Carlmont (from the El Camino League)
Despite losing five players to graduation, injury and school transfer, the Falcons feature a strong returning squad to make a showing in the El Camino League. The “full team” of talented athletes hopes to challenge Los Altos, Carlmont, Woodside and even Los Gatos — a school in the upper De Anza League.
Coach Larry Boehm said he hopes the team will win the El Camino League and make playoffs.
“We have a really, really good team,” Boehm said. “We’ll come up with new goals moving forward, after we make our first set of goals.”
Junior Clark Rothenberg expressed his excitement to compete with his teammates.
“We’re just all good friends,” Rothenberg said. “Everyone’s really into it, and we just have a lot of fun competing against each other.”
Boehm remains excited for the Falcon boys, especially after the hard work they put in last season.
“I want to see those bleachers filled,” Boehm said.
