The girls’ basketball team remained undefeated in the El Camino League, improving to 9-0 after a 59-51 win over visiting Monta Vista on Feb. 10.
“The last couple of games have gone well for us,” said sophomore shooting guard Tivoli Sisco. “Our team is good at scoring and finishing games strong.”
Sisco said the team still needs to work on being better communicators on the court.
“An example of communication problems we have is when not everyone knows who they are guarding, which causes a wide open girl on the other team because two people are guarding another player,” Sisco said. “That has hurt us in many games this season.”
Sisco said that she feels teammates sophomore guard Dharini Ramaswami and junior forward Hannah Johnson have been key to the team’s success.
“Hannah Johnson and Dharini Ramaswamy have both been playing really well, and they are both a huge part of our team,” Sisco said. “Dharini and Hannah have both been very high scorers on our team. I feel like when they are doing well it makes me excited and want to play just as well, and I think that is what gets our team going.”
The Falcons lost to Harker 54-41 on Feb. 4, beat Cupertino 63-26 on Feb. 3 and beat Santa Clara 50-30 on Jan. 31. Sisco said that the loss to Harker “was a real heartbreaker for all of [the team].”
The Falcons will play Fremont on Feb. 14, and Homestead on Feb. 17.
“So far we are undefeated in league and let’s hope that it stays that way,” Sisco said.
