Chess team solidifies county dominance February 22, 2010 — by David Eng Queen to F-4. Checkmate. Saratoga High's top ranked chess team dominated the competition at the 2010 Santa Clara County High School Chess Championship held at Monta Vista High School on Feb. 6. The team took home four of the top five place trophies and once again solidified itself as a county chess powerhouse. Monta Vista had won the a league tournament two months ago, but this time around, the Saratoga tandem of senior Charles Sun and sophomore Evan Ye proved to be too much.
