Senior girl dazzles judges in Saratoga Idol

On March 16, the 2011 Saratoga idols were crowned. Senior Esha Roy won first place singing "Listen" by Beyonce and "The Voice Within" by Christina Aguilera. Second place went to freshman Manini Desai singing "Since I've Been Loving You" by Led Zeppelin and "When I Look At You" by Miley Cyrus. Junior Katie Cummins placed third singing "Jump then Fall" by Taylor Swift and "Breathing Under Water" by Marie Digby.

Junior Katie Cummins placed third singing “Jump then Fall” by Taylor Swift and “Breathing Under Water” by Marie Digby.

The show opened with Saratoga idol 2010 winner Brandon Pierce singing “So Close” by Jon McLaughlin.

Other contestants were seniors Chaz Main, Patrick Mattes, Tim Rollinson, Dylan Teter, juniors Shayda Khorasani, Varsha Ramesh, Anshu Siripurapu, and freshman Usha Raman.

Intermission Acts included Regina Lee and singing “By Your Side” by Tenth Avenue North, Krista Chow, Brandon Pierce, and Eric Wang singing “Never say never” by Justin Bieber, Victor Zhang and Alana Rossip singing “Stuck on you” by Elvis Presley, and Krista Chow, Kaitna Shankar, and Michelle Wang singing a Michael Jackson Medley.

Judges were science teacher Lisa Cochrum, English teacher Erick Rector, technical manager Spencer Sands.

The show was hosted by juniors Alex Amato and Spencer Perry.
