School to host Grad Night in person on June 2

Grad Night will host an array of activities from 10pm to sunrise on the next day.

The school plans on hosting the Class of 2022’s Grad Night in person with standard COVID-19 safety precautions. Tickets for the event will cost $245, and the event will run from 10 p.m. until the early morning of the next day.

It is organized by parents who have graduating seniors. For many, it is their first time while for others, it’s their last. The tickets are planned to be sold until April 1 with over 150 of them already sold with plans on selling 100 more.

As of early November, organizers were planning on individually wrapping food and serving students food directly out of food trucks. The final confirmation of food choices will be made once tickets stop selling and they know what their budget is.

Assistant principal Matt Torrens said that due to the COVID-19 situation improving considerably, the school has been more confident about its ability to host the event compared to the previous 2020-21 school year.

“We plan to follow any guidelines put in place by the county and district. Even if masks are not mandatory, anyone who chooses is welcome to wear one” the parent committee said.

They plan on keeping the theme a secret and hope to provide multiple forms of entertainment including a DJ, carnival games, inflatable structures and a mock casino in the gym. The senior video, a compilation of pictures of the Class of 2022 throughout their four years of high school, will also be played during the event.

Torrens hopes the experience of Grad Night will be “a memorable one — one where the kids enjoy each other’s company for the last time.”
