As the school year begins, the golf players start practice at the Saratoga Country Club. The new team is without Vivian Roan, last year’s top player, but now boasts of freshman Janelle Jin, who leads the team with the top score of 124 shots for the qualifying round of 27 holes.

Jin is excited for the upcoming rounds and feels reassured by the team’s cohesiveness.

“I don't quite know what the standard is, but either way, I am just glad to be playing with the team,” Jin said. “The team made me feel really welcome when I joined the team this year, and I feel like the team is very close.”

With the top players having especially strong scores, coach David Gragnola expects this season to be stronger than the last. He predicts that the team will place first or second in its league, which is a vast improvement from fourth place last year.

“This may be the most talented team that we have ever had,”  Gragnola said.
