History class plans field trip to D.C. during spring break October 4, 2010 — by Grishma Athavale Upperclassmen in government and U.S. history classes will have the chance to go on a six-day excursion to Washington, D.C., during spring break. Students will visit and learn about the nation’s capital and the various monuments in the National Mall. Students will visit and learn about the nation’s capital and the various monuments in the National Mall. “I’m pretty excited to go on this trip,” said senior Michael Lin, who was interested in participating. “It’ll be cool to learn about our national monuments.” History teacher Matt Torrens is organizing and chaperoning the field trip along with other teachers. This semiannual trip takes turns with the Wild West Trip in which students go to Utah. According to the turnout and responses from the informational meeting that was held on Sept. 15, about 25 students are planning to go on the trip. It is expected to cost $2,000 per student, including food, room and transportation, Torrens said. 2 views this week
