People socialize during the Food Truck Festival on Aug. 16.
After a 2-hour long festival, Homecoming themes for each grade are revealed.

The staff parking lot was crowded with food trucks, bean bag tosses, a bouncy house and students for the back to school Food Truck Festival on Aug. 16. Each grade hosted a booth and food truck to fundraise for their class. The food trucks present served sandwiches, fruit skewers, tacos, Kona Ice, Chipotle chips and guacamole.

The Homecoming theme reveal video was projected at the end of the event. This year’s themes are The Incredibles for teachers, Powerpuff Girls for freshmen, the Power Rangers  for sophomores, DC Comics for juniors and Marvel for seniors.

Although the event itself ran smoothly, the preparation process was rocky, junior class president Emily Ta said.

According to Ta, the class office cold-called over 50 food trucks before one agreed to attend the event. Fifteen percent of the food trucks’ proceeds were added to the class bank account. They raised double the $150 typically earned from this type of event.

“Overall, it was a very successful fundraiser. We made around $300 and I saw people having lots of fun,” junior class representative Carine Chan said. “Hopefully, we are able to carry this momentum until the end of the year. I have high hopes for homecoming because a lot of hard work has been put into it, especially from our choreographers, scriptwriters, decorators and my fellow class officers.”
