Amy and Caitlyn pose for a picture - again.

It all started when Sabrina sat next to Joy on the first day of third grade. They became best friends, and their families hit it off immediately. From before elementary school to now, a decade later, the Chen and Tang girls have shared many hilarious memories together.

Amy reached up to the top shelf and brought down a box overflowing with pictures dating back to 2001. Among the hundreds of pictures the Tang family has collected over 15 years, many of them feature Caitlyn or her sister Sabrina.

It all started when Sabrina sat next to Joy on the first day of third grade. They became best friends, and their families hit it off immediately. From before elementary school to now, a decade later, the Chen and Tang girls have shared many hilarious memories together.

Because of this, we recently decided to recreate a picture we had taken during our trip to China in the summer of 2011. At the time, our older sisters were going to perform a dance called “Yu Er,” which translates to “Fish,” at a Beijing dance festival.

In the original photo, we were imitating our sisters’ iconic “Fish Dance” pose, in which Sabrina jumped on Joy’s back. A few people gave us judgmental glances, as we looked a little crazy dancing at the restaurant; but then we’re always crazy and doing embarrassing things with each other.

But when we recreated the pose this time, it was much more difficult, as Amy is taller and heavier than she was five years ago. When Amy tried to jump onto Caitlyn’s back, Caitlyn’s knees would crumble underneath her, and we would collapse into a puddle of laughter. Finally, thanks to Sabrina’s photography skills, we managed to get the perfect shot.

As we made comparisons of the new and old pictures, we realized that we haven’t changed much since we were little. Maybe our brow game got a bit stronger, and our shorts got a bit shorter, but other than that, we’re still the Caitlyn and Amy that we were before: crazy, fun best friends who adore each other’s company.
