Benefit Fashion Show to take place on April 6

Prepare for a night of fashion and fun as approximately 117 student models prepare to dress to impress in the annual Benefit Fashion Show. The event is set to take place on April 6 at 7 p.m. in the Large Gym. 

“The fashion show is a fun way to raise money for a charity of our choice,” senior commissioner Haley Wong said. “It’s a tradition that happens every year that students really enjoy.”

This year, all proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society in memory of late art teacher Stephen McCue, who died in early January from a rare form of lung cancer.  

“We just thought it would bring home a lot of feelings for a lot of people because almost everyone knows someone who’s been affected by cancer,” senior commissioner Seralyn Fields said. In charge of this year’s show are teacher Courtney Crase 

and seniors Megan Doles, Fields, Nadya Shahin and Wong. 

“We start our junior year and work all year to get all the donations, stores and models ready for the show,” Wong said. “We talk to local businesses who are interested in helping out a good cause.” 

The show is separated into several runs, each modeled by students dressed in unique themes. Some traditional themes include “bromance,” prom, first date, college wear and more. According to Wong, this year will be featuring a new run with the eighth graders from Redwood Middle School. In addition, clothing for models are usually borrowed from local boutiques and clothing stores. 

“I’m excited about the show because I know it’s going to be extremely fun to wear some awesome clothes,” senior Shreyas Doshi said. “The thing I’m most looking forward to is the prom part. I can’t wait to wear my suit.” 

Tickets are $8 for students, $12 for adults and $20 for VIP and will be sold during Friday tutorial on April 5 and at the door. 

“Everyone, please try to make the show,” Wong said. “It’s an entertaining way to raise money for an awesome charity!”
