Homecoming week ends with seniors first in Quad Day rankings, high dance turnout

Nathon Chin was crowned Homecoming king, and Jaime An was crowned Homecoming queen.

The seniors’ Homecoming Quad Day, which occurred last Friday, ranked first in the annual competition with 345 points. Judges rated the decorations, skit, dances and participation for each class.

The juniors placed second with 311 points, sophomores third with 286 points and freshmen last with 262 points.

The judges were English teachers Ken Nguyen and Erick Rector, history teacher Kim Anzalone, math teacher Meghan Pickett and psychology teacher Hana Chen.

At the Homecoming football game on Sept. 29, the Falcons (0-6 overall, 0-2 league) lost 41-34 to Homestead. As usual, the Homecoming royalty coronation occurred during halftime.

From the freshman class, Niyanth Rao was voted class prince and Lauren Tan was class princess.

For the sophomores, Prosper Chiu was the class prince and Nicole Wong was the class princess.

For the juniors, Thomas Lim was the class prince and Sasha Pickard was the class princess.

For the senior class, the Ayush Aggarwal and Aaron Choi were the princes and the Michelle Lee and Daphne Liu were the princesses. Nathon Chin was crowned Homecoming king, and Jaime An was crowned Homecoming queen.

The next day, Homecoming dance saw an increase in participation from previous years. According to head dance commissioner senior Marissa Leong, 421 students, which is about a third of the school, attended.

The dance commission was able to raise over $7,000, said sophomore Nicole Wong, who is a member of the dance commission.

However, according to Wong, many students left in the middle of the dance. She said this was mostly because the DJ, DJ Delicious, was not able to read the crowd well and didn’t play many well-known songs.

“It seemed like people were enjoying themselves initially, but toward the end, they seemed a little bored,” Wong said.

The dance commission plans to find a new DJ for the next dance.

ASB board representative senior Nicholas Di thinks that the schoolwide enthusiasm to participate in Homecoming is what helped it go smoothly.

“Everyone had a great time and felt that their time they invested into Homecoming definitely paid off,” Di said.
