The guidance department recently started using its own YouTube channel to help seniors work their way through the college application process and benefit from the lessons learned by alumni.

The channel, named “Saratoga Guidance,” includes over 50 testimonials from graduates describing their experiences in college, while another video seeks to help with the college process.

The bulk of these videos were uploaded in August or September, and the testimonials come from members of the SHS Class of 2014 and earlier.

Senior Shrey Desai said that he found the information helpful.

“They give some good insight into what the college is like from an insider point of view, and how attending Saratoga can either help or hurt the experience at the particular college,” Desai said.

Desai, who plans on majoring in computer science, said that it was interesting to see in a Duke testimonial that a computer science major could also excel as a statistics minor.

Still, Desai feels that the videos could touch on even more topics such as the pressure to attend elite universities that many students feel.
