Generation Z: the climate change neglectors

May 26, 2017 — by Leena Elzeiny

It’s no coincidence we are the last one of the alphabet.

We are greedy enough, selfish enough, voracious enough to consume all of the world’s resources.

We are the generation who denies our impending doom even when it stares us in the face. Already we have reached a 1degree increase from average temperature when 2 degrees means there is no turning back and 3 degrees is the death of the human race.

We, Generation Z: the climate change ignorers, have locked the fate of mankind into place.

We do not rise against our legislators or make them hear us.

We cannot trust humankind to change its polluting habits by its own volition because haven’t we all been warned before? Yet we still drive the one mile to school rather than walking or biking. Nay, we need to take action nationwide to avoid the coming disaster.
