Local Saratoga radio station TIS 1610 AM radio is offering slots for local youth groups to run announcements, offering a medium for local youth to run ads about upcoming projects and events in the community.

Manini Cabute, who works as an analyst for the radio station and manages the broadcast and content, said the purpose of the radio station is to “inform residents and travelers about current road conditions, any existing hazards and emergencies.”

Cabute said the station, which is on 24 hours a day, has been running for at least five years.

Cabute said they have recently expanded the scope of the radio station to include information about upcoming events and current projects.

Cabute said that youth in the community should tune in to connect with youth events and community events.

“Last year we purchased a new system that improves and simplifies the management process of the radio broadcasts,” Caubute said.

The radio station broadcasts from a vacant office in the City Manager’s building. Caubute didn't have an estimate for the number of people who listen to 1610 AM.

Students who plan on hosting community events such as bake sales or fundraisers can run ads on the radio station.

“If you are interested in broadcasting an announcement, feel free to contact me,” Cabute said.

She said you must either announce an upcoming activity or event. Your script must be prepared in advance and the announcement should be no longer than 1 minute.

Cabute can be contacted at (408) 868-1275 or mcabute@saratoga.ca.us.
