There’s something strangely enchanting about Christmas lights still glowing long after the holidays have passed. While the rest of the world rushes to put the holiday cheer away, I’d rather it stay. Why does joy need a sell-by date?
Many say the continuation of the holidays is lazy, but I see it as an act of happiness. The world moves too quickly, always passing with a sense of urgency. January is somber, February is chilly and March drags on. Why not savor the twinkling lights? Why not have the holiday spirit in summer?
Christmas decorations are warm and nostalgic. They make me think of laughter, family and the joys of the season. The world can become gray after the holidays, but having a little holiday cheer makes everything just a little bit brighter. If it puts smiles on faces, I say it’s just fine to celebrate Christmas 365.
